Korobkova apartment house
Detailed description
The construction of the house was completed in 1901. The order was made by the St. Petersburg Insurance Company. It has 6 floors, and the architectural style can be defined as modern. Of particular interest were the decorative elements in the form of balcony grilles with the image of eagles. The large windows were framed with spider web frames. A domed tower with a decorative dragon crowned the house, and the facade was decorated with animalistic subjects. In 1917, an artillery charge hit the house, causing a fire. The house was damaged by fire. By 1924, the building was reconstructed, but it was not completely restored. The Sabashnikov brothers carried out their book publishing activities in the house.
