The minaret of the VIII century
Detailed description
It is the only ancient mosque with a minaret in Derbent. It was built in the 8th century. The mosque building itself was rebuilt in the 9th century, while the minaret remained intact. Now it stands 11.5 meters above the ground, its top has been destroyed. It is made of high-quality hewn stone. There is a spiral staircase inside it. The lighting inside is achieved by small windows.
